Pastors Mark and Karen Workman, both grew up in northwest Ohio; but when they married in October 1971, they began an adventure in ministry that would take them to pastor churches not only in Ohio, but also in Michigan and in Kentucky. They also enjoyed traveling as a family with their two small children throughout the central and southern part of the United States in a very successful evangelistic ministry being used prophetically to bring churches into the message of the Kingdom. Pastor Mark has also traveled to several mission fields in Haiti, Nicaragua, Honduras, and Brazil.
In 1984, God moved on their hearts to settle in Nicholasville, Kentucky, to be founders and pastors of Abundant Life Church, where for the next 12 years, they would see the lives of hundreds of people changed and influenced for the Kingdom.
In 1995, God began to orchestrate a move back to Ohio where they would minister for the next 12 years as Administrative Pastors in their hometown of Fremont, Ohio.
The Workman’s, truly believing, “their steps are ordered by God”, had the privilege of becoming a part of Cornerstone Church in Toledo, Ohio, under the covering of Bishop Michael Pitts. Pastor Mark found joy in being an instructor in the Global School of Ministry where he was humbled by the students selecting him as ‘Teacher of the Year’.
The greatest love and joy of the Workman’s is the blessing of their family. Their daughter and son-in-law, Pastors Matt and Jennifer Sherman are also called in ministry and occasionally travel to minister in other churches. Jennifer currently serves Pastor Mark as his Pastoral Assitant. Matt serves as Minister of Music and Administrative Pastor, in addition to teaching and preaching in the body.
Their son, Mark, Jr. played the drums, worked in the puppet ministry, and ministered evangelistically bringing a reality of God and the Kingdom message to everyone he came in contact with until he was called home April 13, 1998, through a tragic car accident. His presence is still here and felt through that great cloud of witnesses.
Their third child, an adopted son, Steve Workman and his wife Karissa are also vitally involved in ministry. Steve has the heart of an evangelist and shares the love of God with everyone he meets. He has a passion for children and young adult ministries where he impacts the local body in a great way. Karissa is blessed with a beautiful voice and heart to worship God through music and creative arts and drama. They have given the Workman’s four beautiful grandchildren, Kailynn Hope, Hailey Grace, Zakariah Martin Lee, and Amelia Joy (Mia).
Pastors Mark and Karen have experienced restoration and personally welcome you to come enjoy the presence of God, richness in the Word, experience restoration in your life, and enjoy a covenant relationship with the “family” at Cornerstone Church in Wilkesboro, North Carolina.
